Wanli Tire Boosts Production with $500M Investment in Cambodia!

Wanli Tire, one of the prominent exhibitor at CITEXPO 2025, is accelerating its global expansion with a significant new project. A subsidiary of China’s Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holdings Group (GIIHG), Wanli Tire has recently broken ground on its first overseas production facility in Svay Rieng province, Cambodia. The plant, part of China’s Belt and Road initiative, will produce 10 million semi-steel radial tyres and 1.2 million all-steel radial tyres annually, employing around 1,000 workers. Set across 32 hectares in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, the factory will be developed in two phases and play a crucial role in Wanli Tire’s international growth.

According to Lor Vichet, vice-president of the Cambodia Chinese Commerce Association (CCCA), China is a major investor in Cambodia’s tire manufacturing sector, with most plants located in Svay Rieng province’s special economic zone. The total investment in Cambodia’s tire industry could reach nearly $2 billion.

In 2024, Cambodia’s tire export industry experienced a remarkable surge, with exports reaching $772.5 million during the January-November period, a 135% increase from $328.2 million in 2023. This growth is closely tied to the influx of Chinese investment, especially in Svay Rieng province, where many tire manufacturing plants, including Wanli Tire’s new facility, are located. The rise in exports reflects Cambodia’s growing role as a key hub for tire production, with companies like Wanli Tire helping to meet the increasing global demand for high-quality tires.
