With the increase in global infrastructure projects and agricultural income, the demand for special tires is rising in many countries. Tire company Tatneft, located in Saran, Kazakhstan, has recently expanded the scope of its currently underway KamaTyresKZ tire project to produce rubber products and farm tires in the future.
Neil Maganov, Tatneft general director, during a tour with Kassym Jomart Tokaev (President of Kazakhstan) on October 5th, has stated that they would plan to begin the project's second stage to manufacture rubber products, including conveyors and conveyor belts. In addition, he also mentioned that in the third phase, they would also produce agricultural tires.
The report states that the tire project of KamatTresKZ LLP, located in Saran, is planned to be completed by the end of 2022. The project is a joint venture between Russia's Tatneft and Kazakhstan's AllurTyres LLP.
According to Tatneft, the plant is currently installing equipment and preparing for commissioning and is expected to reach full capacity by 2024. The plant will manufacture 3 million 15-22 inch passenger cars, light vehicle tires, and 500.000 truck tires yearly. The plant will primarily supply tires to the Russian, Kazakh, and central Asian markets while at the same time is expected to create more than 1100 jobs.
This expanded project will also help relieve the pressure of the long-term Russian tires supplies shortage. In H1 2022, due to the plant closures of European tire enterprises, the production capacity of Russian tires decreased by at least 4 million, and tire imports also suffered a sharp decline. According to the CRPT, tire imports in many countries have dropped sharply. South Korea dropped by 54% to 760.000 tires; Japan dropped by 54% to 500.000 tires; Luxembourg down 60% to 336.000 tires; Germany reduced by 42% to 304.000 tires. Therefore, we have seen big moves in tire production and sales in Russia's neighboring countries. Iran has fully liberalized tire exports, and Kazakhstan increased tire production capacity.
On May 13th, 2022, PJSC Tatneft, Russia's largest energy and chemicals company, announced plans to divest its tire operations to JSC Tatneftekhiminvest-Holding. This deal includes the largest local tire enterprise in Russia-Nizhnekamskshina PJSC.
